Cornwall has plenty to offer it’s visitors and Melody Farm Shepherds Huts is well placed to enjoy much of what’s on offer. Here are just a few ideas of activities you can do when you stay with us. For more information on things to do and see in Cornwall, Visit Cornwall is an excellent source of information.
The Cornish Way multi-use trail snakes around Cornwall touching almost every corner of the county but one of its most spectacular trails, the Coast to Coast trail, is just a stones throw from Melody Farm Shepherds Huts.
Running between Portreath on the north coast and Devoran on the south, the trail stretches for 11 miles and is almost entirely on purpose built cycle paths or quiet country lanes. As well as passing through Bissoe Nature Reserve cyclists will enjoy a slice of Cornish heritage with relics from Cornwall’s mining heyday scattered across the landscape.Cycle hire is available from Bike Chain Bissoe Bike Hire who can deliver bikes to Melody Farm.
You only have to step out of your shepherds hut to find yourself amongst rolling fields and lush countryside criss-crossed with public footpaths. And just a short drive away are some of Cornwall’s most scenic walks, along lush river estuaries and scenic coastal paths.
For woodland walks head to Trelissick Garden where the steep valley is covered by a canopy of trees set to a stunning water backdrop or pass through Truro to Idless with its beautiful mixed woodland. For coastal views choose a stretch of the South West Coast Path which weaves its way around Cornwall for some 300 miles.
True to Cornwall’s unique and independent character, the Cornish shopping scene is wonderfully individual. Town centres are a tapestry of boutique shops, small galleries and specialist retailers interwoven with coffee shops, delis and pavement cafes.
In Falmouth glimpses of harbour waters and estuary views can be stolen from the small alleyways dotted through the town centre, while shop windows reveal the town’s artistic flair. For chic city style head to Truro where the magnificent spires of the Cathedral tower over the bustling streets lined with shops resplendent in Georgian architecture. Renowned for its careful blend of bespoke outlets and national brands, Truro is a far cry from most city centres; instead of soulless shopping centres you’ll find character-filled walkways, vibrant markets and tucked away little gems selling hand picked collections.
But the best thing about shopping in Cornwall are those stumble-upon shops, hidden away where you’d least expect them; farms, gardens and even the most rural of country lanes harbourslices of retail heaven.
Cornwall’s greens are famed for spectacular views and luckily for us, Melody Farm Shepherds Huts has three quality courses on its doorstep and is within easy driving distance of the county’s elite.
To tee off on a championship course take your pick from St Enodoc and Trevose on the North coast, and St Mellion in the south east of the county where excellence comes assured.
