MEET THE TEAM

Tim - Owner

Tim previously owned his own business in the oil industry and at 50 decided to live out his lifelong dream of opening a set of luxury environmentally friendly self-catering accommodation in Cornwall. He got straight to work making that dream a reality and The Emerald was born. Opened in 2013, Tim, along with wife Brigitte and brother Simon, decided that 2015 was the year to develop things further at The Emerald - and Melody Farm Shepherds Huts was born.

Tim is always looking to make a genuine difference in what he does. Along with Brigitte, he has worked hard to create a secluded retreat, focusing on accessibility and privacy as primary design factors. He is now very proud to show guests around the luxury eco holiday retreat that has emerged from his dream and is enjoying the reaction of guests when they first see the shepherds huts in their home in the orchard.

Brigitte - Owner

Brigitte was previously a teacher and has a lot of experience teaching special needs children. She’s a talented chef with a passion for creating delicious dishes and has recently completed a professional chef diploma. Alongside this she shares her husbands eco-friendly outlook. Brigitte has enjoyed creating the interior look of the shepherds huts, using her eye for interior design to make them look visually attractive, as well as comfortable and luxurious.

Simon - Owner

Simon is a Chartered Builder and Managing Director of British Stairways Limited, suppliers of timber staircases.

Having enjoyed watching The Emerald develop and helping with maintenance and other roles in the business, Simon was keen to be more involved and the establishment of Melody Farm Shepherds Huts was the perfect opportunity for this. As plans for the shepherds huts business evolved Simon investigated the constructional methods, types and merits involved with the many different shepherds hut designs available. He helped source local suppliers and the materials necessary to build and supply them, in accordance with the ecofriendly principles upheld by The Emerald.

Simon has been central to the build process of the shepherds huts and, whilst the stair and building business continues to thrive, he is often found in Cornwall, enjoying the West Country and welcoming guests as they arrive on their holidays.
